Privacy policy.
This page explains — in plain English — what happens to information about you when you visit voiceofiam.com or any Voice of I AM landing page, buy one of our books, download a free resource, or follow us on social media. We have tried to keep it short and honest. If something is unclear, email us and we will answer directly.

01Who we are
Voice of I AM is an independent publishing house operated by Munachimso Nwagbara, based in Lagos, Nigeria. We publish books, email newsletters, and free downloadable resources under two imprints. If you have any question about this policy, you can reach us directly at hello@voiceofiam.com or via WhatsApp at +234 810 126 5454.
For the purposes of data protection law (Nigeria NDPR, EU GDPR, UK DPA, and similar regimes worldwide), Voice of I AM is the data controller for information collected on this site.
02What we collect
We collect only what we need, and nothing we don't. In practice, that means:
| Data | When we get it |
|---|---|
| Email address | When you buy a book (for receipt + delivery), or when you request a free download |
| Name (if you provide it) | At checkout, or when you email us directly |
| Payment reference | Generated by Paystack after a successful purchase (we never see or store your full card number) |
| Order history | Which books you've bought from us (so we can deliver updates) |
| IP address, device/browser info | Automatically when you visit any of our pages (server logs + analytics pixel) |
| Email correspondence | If you write to us, we keep the thread |
| Behaviour on our pages | Which pages you visit, which buttons you click, which site variant you saw — via Meta Pixel (see §6) |
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Our books and marketing are aimed at adults. If you believe a child's information has been submitted to us, contact us and we will delete it.
03How we collect it
- Directly from you — when you type your email into an opt-in form, complete a purchase, or send us a message.
- Automatically — when your browser loads a page, basic technical information (IP, user agent, referring URL) is logged by our hosting provider (GitHub Pages) and by our analytics/advertising pixel (Meta).
- From our payment processor — Paystack sends us a confirmation after a successful payment containing your email, the amount paid, and a transaction reference.
- From our email provider — Kit.com tells us whether you opened an email or clicked a link (standard email analytics; you can disable image loading to prevent this).
04Why we collect it
We use your information for exactly four purposes:
- To deliver what you paid for — send the download link, deliver updated editions, respond to support emails.
- To deliver what you asked for — send the free PDF you requested and the occasional newsletter you signed up for.
- To run and improve the house — understand which books and pages are working, fix broken things, decide what to write next.
- To advertise honestly — show our books to people who might actually want them, and measure which version of a page works better (we run A/B tests — see below).
We do not sell, rent, trade, or license your email or personal information to third parties for their own marketing. We never have, and we have no plans to.
05Payments
All payments are processed by Paystack (paystack.com), a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. When you buy a book, your card details, bank account, or mobile money information is entered directly on Paystack's servers — it never touches ours. We receive only a transaction reference, your email address, and the amount paid. Paystack's own privacy policy is at paystack.com/legal/privacy.
For Nigerian Naira transactions, Paystack collects card/bank information as required by the CBN. For global USD transactions, Paystack collects card and Apple Pay information as required by card network rules.
06Cookies & tracking pixels
We use a very small set of technologies:
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel — a small piece of code from Meta Platforms that lets us measure whether our ads lead to purchases, run A/B tests of page variants, and show our books to relevant audiences on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The pixel uses first-party cookies and sends Meta your IP address, page URL, referrer, and basic browser information. If you have a Facebook/Instagram account, Meta may associate this visit with your account in accordance with their own privacy policy. You can opt out of Meta advertising tracking in your Facebook ad preferences or by using a browser ad blocker — the site still works.
- Kit.com — our email provider sets a cookie when you submit an opt-in form to prevent duplicate submissions and track whether you arrived from an email link.
- No third-party analytics. We don't run Google Analytics, Hotjar, or similar broad tracking tools.
Because we run A/B tests of our site (the "v2" redesign you are on is currently variant B of a split test), the pixel fires a custom event called ab_variant with a variant name so we can compare which version of a page performs better. This does not send any personal information beyond what is already sent with the PageView event.
Your browser lets you block cookies or delete them at any time — the site remains fully functional. If you want to browse without being tracked, use your browser's private/incognito mode or a content blocker like uBlock Origin.
07Who we share your information with
We share the minimum necessary with a small number of service providers who help us run the house:
| Provider | What they get | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Paystack | Payment data, email | Process card/bank payments |
| Kit.com (ConvertKit) | Email address, tags for which books/freebies you requested | Send newsletters, deliver download links |
| GitHub Pages | IP address, browser info (server logs) | Host the website |
| Meta Platforms | IP, page views, pixel events | Advertising attribution and A/B measurement |
None of these providers are allowed to use your personal information for their own independent marketing purposes beyond what's required to provide us the service.
We will disclose your information if compelled by a valid court order or legal demand from a jurisdiction with proper authority, but we will notify you of that demand where legally allowed to do so.
08Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of these rights:
- Access — ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct anything inaccurate (for example, a misspelled email).
- Erasure ("right to be forgotten") — ask us to delete your email and any associated data. Note that if you've bought a book, we will retain the transaction record for tax/legal purposes, but we will stop marketing to you.
- Objection / opt-out — unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in the footer of every email, or reply to any email with "unsubscribe" in the subject line.
- Data portability — ask for a machine-readable copy of the data you've given us.
- Withdraw consent — for anything we process based on your consent (the newsletter, the free download list), you can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing or emailing us.
To exercise any of these, email hello@voiceofiam.com or WhatsApp us. We will respond within 7 business days. We will never ask you for more information than is necessary to verify your identity (usually your email address is enough).
Nigerian residents: your rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR 2019) include all of the above. You may also lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Bureau (NDPB) if you are unsatisfied with our response.
EU/UK residents: your rights under GDPR/UK DPA include all of the above. Our lead supervisory authority for GDPR purposes is the Irish Data Protection Commission (where GitHub/Kit/Meta have EU headquarters); you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
09How long we keep it
- Email list: retained until you unsubscribe. If you haven't opened an email in 24 months, we will remove you automatically.
- Purchase records: kept for 6 years (Nigerian tax-law requirement) after your last purchase, then deleted.
- Support correspondence: kept for 3 years after the last message in a thread, then deleted.
- Server logs (IP/browser): retained by GitHub for up to 30 days, then deleted.
- Pixel/analytics data: aggregated after 90 days; identifiable event data is retained by Meta per their own retention policy (you can control this in your Meta ad settings).
